Twitter adds World Cup hashtag icons
If you hate football but love Twitter, you should probably check out some of the Twitter clients that have filtering services and get creative in blocking unwanted posts.
If you love football (or even if you just get interested around World Cup time), love Twitter and know where the hash key on your keyboard is, rejoice, Twitter’s done something nice for you: World Cup hashtag icons.
I wonder if we will start to see more of this kind of thing when Twitter introduces its Promoted Tweets? It’s such a small thing, but can be incredibly popular with regular users in search of novelty.
Using such icons is also a good way of rewarding people for having consensus when it comes to hashtagging, which is going to make these World Cup hashtags extra useful for anyone trying to follow a match while they are away from a television screen. And it might even motivate me to finally locate the blooming hash key on my laptop.
